BUDDY & STACY
Recordings WLAC-TV Channel 5 was an affiliate of CBS, a tv station owned by the Life & Casualty insurance company. The offices for the station were located in a building adjacent to the L & C Tower at 159 4th Avenue North. Because of the close proximity of the studios to the L & C Tower some / most sources have the studio located IN the L & C Towers but this is not correct. (Note: while the official address for L & C Tower is 401 Church Street, the building is actually located on the corner of 4th Avenue North & Church Street) The station moved to a different address in 1968 and the call letters were changed to WTVF in 1975, nowadays the station is called News Channel 5. The song Buddy & Stacy performed in the show was "Shotgun", a cover of the Junior Walker & the All Stars hit from February 1965. This has lead some sources to list the Night Train performance to be from February 1965 as well, but this is not the case. On the same show Jimmy Church performs "In The Midnight Hour", the Wilson Pickett version of the song was released in late June - early July, thus this dates "Shotgun" as having been recorded no earlier than June 1965. It is possible that this tv show appearance took place around the same time as the session Jimi did with Frank Howard and the Commanders but neither sessions has a confirmed date. Shotgun
