LITTLE RICHARD

The Live Tape
Sometime in late 1964 / early 1965 the Little Richard revue appeared at Back Bay Theater in Boston (the book "Black Gold" gave the location as Revere Beach, Massachusetts). The concert was broadcast by WTBS 88.1 and recorded Little Walter DeVenne. See a 2006 interview with Little Walter that mentions this tape: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/bsnpubs/vpost?id=1406752

In addition to Little Richard the tape apparently also includes parts of the support sets played by Don & Dewey and Maxine Brown. The tracklist for the Little Richard set as far as given in "Black Gold" is as follows:

- I Saw Her Standing There
- Lucille
- Send Me Some Lovin'
- Medley - Rip It Up / Tutti Frutti / Jenny, Jenny
- Shake A Hand
- Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On

"Black Gold" says the tape was recorded on a Scotch 190 reel at 7.5 ips. Apparently the tape features Jimi Hendrix playing guitar behind all of the acts as a member of Little Richard's backing band.

The recording is not in circulation as Little Richard does not want it to be released, therefor Little Walter hasn't given out any copies. Experience Hendrix has apparently heard the tape but no deal can be made since Little Richard does not feel that the tape is up to scratch.
